Challenge
One of the primary challenges facing construction was the fast-approaching cold weather in late 2002. "We wanted to have the structure enclosed before winter," said Viox Services General Manager Phillip O'Brien.
Solution
Viox put all bid packages on a fast track. As soon as each contract was approved, contractors started working. Viox looked for larger, superior contractors who could appropriately staff the project.
Result
Viox Services successfully constructed Phase II of The Knolls of Oxford, a comprehensive continuing care retirement community owned by LifeSphere, situated on 75 acres west of Oxford, OH.
The second of the three-phase project included a 170,000-square-foot facility for administrative offices and food service, a nursing home and assisted living and dependent apartments. Completion occurred in the fall of 2003. Viox served as construction manager during Phase I and Phase II.
