Challenge
A major project constraint was that the renovation had to be accomplished in such a manner that the birthing of babies continued uninterrupted. Additionally, it was imperative that the quality of care could not be compromised or impeded during construction.
Solution
This project was broken into seven phases in order to keep the Obstetrics Department fully functional, requiring a high level of coordination among contractors and hospital staff.
Result
Viox renovated an entire 18,000 square foot labor/delivery department, increasing the number of birthing rooms from five to eight. The project included the installation of new mechanical systems and controls without the assistance of pre-existing system documentation prior to renovation. The job included a complete demolition of the existing space in order to expand and modernize.
