VALUE DELIVERED

More than $7,000,000 in annual cost savings has been delivered to Goodyear alongside major improvements in work productivity as a result of this relationship. Total maintenance work orders have decreased by 40% and high-cost corrective work orders have decreased by 300%. In addition, Viox has set the standard for quality service with Goodyear, as the Viox Services Steering Team quality program is now used as the model for Goodyear’s other service and product suppliers.

CLIENT OBJECTIVES

Goodyear was under tremendous financial pressure and needed a facilities maintenance firm to help bring cost savings and improved performance to their corporate campus in Akron, Ohio— a total of 9 locations with over 4 million square feet of space.

Their goals were cost reduction, increased productivity, improved quality and service, and the ability to focus on their core, revenue-producing business.

In addition, a local labor agreement was required for the facility maintenance positions at Goodyear for the initiative to be successful.

EMCOR SOLUTIONS

The Goodyear contract required an accelerated start-up and after a November 7, 2002 contract award, Viox initiated transition. A workforce of over 100 FTE’s started within a year, and all major initiatives were fully implemented by February 2003— including the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), the Preventative Maintenance program, all sourcing agreements, and one-call dispatching.

Viox redesigned the way Goodyear approached facilities management and aligned and centralized the multiple Goodyear business units on the corporate campus, implemented key performance metrics to drive improvements and measure service delivery, and utilized language processing to implement a quality program that ensured success through the creation of a Steering Team, as mentioned above.

Goodyear’s labor requirements were unique. Facility management positions were negotiated out of Goodyear’s agreement, allowing Viox to establish its own labor contract to manage all facilities operations at the Akron Headquarters.
