Grote Industries Awards Viox Services, Inc. A Contract To Help Attain Operational Efficiency, Cost Savings

EMCOR Company to Help Manage U.S. Facilities

Cincinnati, Ohio - March 23, 2005 - Viox Services, Inc., one of the Midwest's leading facility maintenance, management and construction services firms, has been awarded a three year contract by Grote Industries to provide outsourced facilities management and maintenance services for its U.S. operations.

Grote Industries is a global leader in vehicle safety systems based in Madison, Indiana with over 1,000 employees located in facilities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The company provides components for original equipment manufacturers and the vehicle aftermarket; products include lamps, emergency lighting, turn signal switches, back-up alarms, mirrors and mirror bracketry.

Viox Services is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses globally.

"Viox Services has experience and capabilities that match well with our needs," said David Hocking, Plant Engineer for Grote Industries. "We can utilize Viox's systems for facility management best practices, which will allow us to focus on our core business while supporting our existing facility management capabilities."

According to Greg Tankersley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Viox Services, "We are an excellent fit with Grote Industries and will have a positive impact on the organization. In today's challenging business environment, companies are looking for ways to more efficiently manage their facilities so they can focus on their core business, thereby increasing their competitive edge. Our experience, spectrum of services and processes, as well as the efficiencies we provide will positively impact Grote's business, including the company's bottom line."

Viox will be providing a broad variety of services to Grote that will augment the existing capabilities of the Company's maintenance department, including reporting, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, janitorial, fire protection, and managing other subcontracted work. It is anticipated that the agreement will enable Grote to realize a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduction in outsourced maintenance costs through a comprehensive preventive maintenance program as well as continuous improvement processes with monthly team meetings and data analysis.
  • Self-performance savings from cross-trained associates performing work instead of specialty contractors, thus improving critical response time for daily needs as well as emergency situations, and reducing the need for management time.
  • Centralized purchasing as Viox Services leverages its purchasing power through a "request for proposal" process for purchases and major repairs from outside vendors.
